NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Last month, Jonquel Jones was the first Bahamian to not only win a WNBA championship but also the WNBA Finals MVP trophy as well.

It was the first championship for the New York Liberty in over two decades.

Celebrity Artist Jamaal Rolle decided he would create a 30-foot mural in celebration of the Grand Bahamian’s achievements, something never done before in the country.

He also spoke to Our News about the process.

And as for how he decided on the colors he used, the UNESCO Ambassador said he wanted to focus on the “striking black and white classic portrait.”

“I just wanted contrast it with the Liberty seafood green as this is the style that I don’t really do and this is something I’m getting into, to differentiate my portraits either from the full blown black and white or full color,” Rolle said.

Sherwin Williams General Manager Reto Giovanoli says it was a no brainer once Jamaal called to get involved.

Government has planned a motorcade in Grand Bahama this Saturday, while the one for New Providence is planned for Monday, November 18.
