NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A group of advocates is pushing for a statutory definition as part of the Sexual Offences Amendment Act, to draw a clear line between what is considered rape.



Equality Bahamas Director, Alicia Wallace says the strike five campaign wants the Sexual Offenses Amendment Act changed and updated to better protect victims of sexual violence.

According to Equality Bahamas, marital rape must be criminalized and it must be called rape.

Denise Major the Director of The Bahamas Sexual Health and Rights Association. Major works to educate parents and children on sexual and reproductive health and rights.

She supports a review of the laws as it pertains to the age of consent.
