Tough Day for Team Bahamas at Billie Jean King Cup

It was a tough day for Team Bahamas on the court in Trinidad and Tobago. The team fell to 1-2 in the standings after a 3-0 loss to Barbados yesterday at the Billie Jean King Cup Americas Zone III tournament. In all three matches, Bahamian team members won the first set, but eventually lost each match in three sets.

In singles, Sydney Clarke lost 7-5, 3-6, 5-7 to Serena Bryan, and Simone Pratt lost 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 to Gabrielle Leslie. In doubles, Clarke teamed up with Danielle Thompson and won the first set 6-4 but dropped the following sets 6-7, 3-10 in the tiebreak, to Hannah Chambers and Cherise Slocombe.

Jazz Chisholm Hits First Yankee Stadium Home Run

Add another milestone to the list of firsts for Jazz Chisholm in pinstripes. Chisholm hit his first home run in Yankee Stadium last night in New York’s 9-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. He is now up to 18 home runs and 24 stolen bases on the season, and the Yankees are 7-3 since they acquired him in a trade from the Miami Marlins. Chisholm became the first Yankee player with at least 10 hits, and five home runs in his first 10 games with the franchise.

Top Plays of the Week

It’s time for us to recap the week with top plays.

Let’s get started with number 5: At the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League, Jackson Jacob, still a bucket, drives baseline for the double-clutch layup.

At 4: Daunte Stuart’s first pro home run is a moonshot for the Oakland Ballers in Indy Baseball.

At 3: Back to Baha Mar, Garvin Clarke leaves it for Whitfield Ching on the break for the slam. Woody makes top plays again.

At number 2: We saw the homer earlier, check Jazz on the defensive side…the tag to catch Vlad Guerrero trying to steal third.

Coming in at number 1: Not a top play, but a top pic – Devynne Charlton storms into the final of the 100m hurdles in Paris. 12.50 seconds.

We’re all locked in tomorrow afternoon, no pressure or anything…but the fate of a grateful nation lies with you, Devynne.
