NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A community is left grieving after veteran educator Cleomie E. Woods passed away on February 21st.

As word of her passing spread, hundreds of tributes and condolences were posted on social media, and those who knew her, recalling their interactions with her throughout the years.

To the public, she was a veteran educator, but to her children, she was mom.

“She was no nonsense she required discipline she required us to behave be honest respect our elders be hardworking she was a stickler for education and excellence she required us to go to school learn our lesson as she would say,” Verne Perigod said.

Perigod also says that his mom lived a life dedicated to helping those around her, and while she was a known educator, she was also active in the Eastwood community where she was President of The Home Owners Association for fifteen years.

Her work did not go unnoticed, as last month the pavilion at the Eastwood community park was named in her honor.
