NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Six months of intense training, hard work and sacrifice have finally paid off for 36 new police officers.

The members of C Squad 2026 officially completed their training in Grand Bahama.

Commissioner of Police Shanta Knowles says while graduation is a moment to celebrate, the real work is just beginning.

She also had a strong message for the new recruits about how they use their authority.

“ The badge you will wear carries the authority of the law, but it does not, it does not place you above the law. Let me say that to you a second time. The badge you will wear carries the authority of the law, but it does not place you above the law…”

However, Knowles didn’t stop there, as she also warned the new officers to be careful about who they associate with, reminding them one bad decision could undo years of hard work.

“ The influences you permit into your lives. Mind your interactions, posting, and usage of social media. There is policy. One careless decision, one dishonest act, or one moment of poor judgment can destroy a reputation that has taken years to establish.”

Attorney General Wayne Munroe, speaking on behalf of National Security Minister Myles Laroda also had a strong message for the graduates.

He reminded them that good policing isn’t just about putting people behind bars, it’s about making sure justice is served.
