EXUMA, BAHAMAS – There’s been a major development in Yntegra’s 200 million dollar Rosewood Exuma resort plan, following months of pushback from residents, environmental groups, and local businesses. The developer has announced it will withdraw and refile its site plan, signaling a reset on the controversial project.

According to the company, the change comes directly from community feedback and findings from an environmental assessment. The biggest adjustment involves relocating the project’s service dock farther away from Turtlegrass Resort’s property, a feature that had become one of the most heavily criticized components of the plan.

The issue was examined on On The Record, where Yntegra CEO Filipe McLean pushed back on claims of large-scale dredging.

“A lot of the information out there is just not accurate… We’re not dredging that channel, period. We only have a permit to dredge 1.4 acres to access the service dock,” McLean said.

In a statement this week, McLean added that YnTegra wants to “peacefully co-exist” with neighbors and hopes the updated plan will provide clarity while creating jobs for Exumians.

Still, concerns remain. Local tour operator Kieran Miller questioned why alternative access points weren’t considered.

“If there’s a way to get this project off the ground without damaging that part of the reef, why not use it?”
“And in my perspective, the whole project could be scaled down even more.”

Meanwhile, opposition to the development continues to grow. A petition from advocacy group Save Exuma Alliance has now passed 7,000 signatures, calling for a pause and deeper review of the project. The group has also cited a community survey showing over 90 percent of residents want stronger environmental protections.

In response to Yntegra’s decision, Save Exuma Alliance released a statement calling the withdrawal of the original site plan proof that public pressure is working.

The organization says it welcomes the decision to revisit the dock placement, but insists more changes are needed. They are calling for a transparent public review process once the new plan is submitted, and are urging residents to continue speaking out.
