Dominican Poachers Sighted in Bahamian Waters

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A group of Dominican fishermen was spotted in Bahamian waters recently, however an attempt to arrest them was unsuccessful. That according to Royal Bahamas Defence Force Commodore Raymond King.

A month into this year’s crawfish season, Agriculture and Marine Resources Minister Clay Sweeting telling Our News that illegal poaching was down, and harvests are up.

On average, officials say 3.5 million pounds of crawfish are harvested during the season.

But Commodore King says the force is aware of certain trends and will continue to patrol areas frequented by poachers as well as human smuggling operations.
