UNITED STATES – VJ Edgecombe delivered late game heroics once again when the Philadelphia 76ers needed him the most.

Edgecombe was the hero for the 76ers, hitting a dramatic go ahead three from the top of the key, with 1.7 seconds left in overtime to lift Philadelphia to a 139–136 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis.

Edgecombe finished with 25 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, scoring 13 of his points in the fourth quarter to force extra time and capping the night with the clutch trey from 25 feet.

It was his second clutch basket of the season that turned out to be a game winner, following his dramatic putback against the Warriors earlier this month.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles, Deandre Ayton and the Lakers came up short, falling 128-106 to the Detroit Pistons.

Ayton finished with 10 points and just 2 rebounds in a tough night for L.A.

Lightbourne, Charlton Lead Teams To Lopsided Wins

Two Bahamian stars delivered statement performances in collegiate women’s basketball, leading their teams to lopsided victories.

Denika Lightbourne and the FIU Panthers dominated Florida National in a one-sided 122–30 win, capping off non-conference play in emphatic fashion.

Lightbourne finished with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists in 29 minutes.

The Panthers are 7–4 on the season, 6–1 at home, with an open conference play next week against Missouri State.

Meanwhile, Veronaye Charlton and the Austin Peay Governors cruised to a 73–38 victory over Berry in their non-conference finale.

Charlton contributed 10 points, including a three-pointer, as the Governors controlled the game from start to finish.

The win moved Austin Peay to 8–2 on the season, with the Governors now turning their attention to an upcoming road matchup against Jacksonville to open conference play.

Adderley Transfers To Northwestern State

Shania Adderley is on the move for the next stop in her collegiate track and field career.

After beginning her career at Liberty, Adderley will transfer to Northwestern State for the upcoming season.

Last season at Liberty, Adderley clocked a personal best of 55.59 seconds in the open 400 meters, and contributed to school record setting relay teams.

Her breakthrough moment was when she ran a crucial leg for Team Bahamas at the World Athletics Relays in Nassau, in the mixed four-by-four team.

They ran a national record time of 3:12.81, to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
