UNITED STATES – Former FTX engineering director Nishad Singh was spared prison Wednesday after a federal judge praised his “remarkable” cooperation in the trial against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

Judge Lewis A. Kaplan noted that Singh became aware of FTX’s financial misappropriations only shortly before the firm’s collapse in 2022.

Singh, who testified last year expressing shock and remorse over his involvement, also provided evidence of campaign finance violations, strengthening the government’s case.

His sentencing follows a similar one for Caroline Ellison, who cooperated but received a two-year sentence due to her prolonged involvement in the fraud.
