NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After a prolonged period of defeat, the Fancy Dancers have reclaimed Junkanoo glory, emerging victorious in the New Year’s Day Parade. 

The win helped mark the group’s impressive 40th Anniversary. Group Chairman is Carlos Pyfrom.

The Fancy Dancers secured awards for best Shirley Street performance, best overall costume, best off-the-shoulder, best banner, best music, and best overall performance. Dominating the competition, the group scored 82.22 points, outshining Colours, who secured second place with 81.95 points.

Post-victory, Pyfrom revealing the group’s plans for a major celebration.

Following the Boxing Day Junkanoo parade, concerns arose among B-groups over short notice for the submission of lead and step-down costumes to the bay. 

Pyfrom says the Fancy Dancers were among the leading advocates for the return of these essential elements, emphasizing their commitment to the tradition.
