NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The colors from today’s Fashion Parade ignited the energy in Rawson Square as the executive branch officially opened Parliament.

A note on the invitation regarding the dress code read, men: morning dress (long coat), ceremonial robes, ceremonial uniforms, or dark lounge suit medals and decorations.

For the ladies ceremonial robes, ceremonial uniform or day dress, hat and gloves, medals and decorations.

This dress code was followed to a tee according to one attendee. But despite the high-end fashion looks, many attendees did not have to break the bank to deliver royal fashion statements.

We can’t forget the men that also showed out. In coat suits and penguin tails. There was also an expression of mourning symbolized by a black band many parliamentarians wore on their arm in tribute to the Hon. Obediah Wilchcombe.

Latrae Rahming, director who is head of communications in the Office of the Prime Minister, tells us more.

The outfits from today’s ceremony are now etched in history to commemorate not only the opening of a new parliament but as a memorial to a great statesman.
