NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Finance and accounting officers convening outside the Office of the Prime Minister Friday seeking answers and a meeting with the prime minister over outstanding promotions and compensation.

The union says government has been silent on the matter for a year now.

An audience with the prime minister is what Bahamas Public Services Union members are looking for amid what they say is a long-standing issue, promotions and compensation.

The union president is Kimsley Ferguson.

Ferguson says the finance and accounting officers were faced with this issue for 15 years.

These officers say some of them juggle the finances of two government ministries and departments at a time.

The union leader says they haven’t heard from the prime minister or financial secretary since last year.

Finance officer Gail Charlow says she’s waiting on her promotion.

We asked the union what’s the next step in hopes of getting the attention of the prime minister.
