NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Peardale was the scene of the country’s latest mass shooting. Police say the violence unfolded around 6pm as the victims were standing outside  a business on Peardale Road just south of Wulff Road.

That’s when jumped out small silver car and opened fire on the group.

Caught in the crossfire were the 44, 41, 37, 23, 20 and 16-year-old victims. They were all taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Resident Donald Lightbourne says he was home when he heard the gunshots.

The father of the three says he’s disgusted with the violence.

Police say one of the victims is being electronically monitored for manslaughter and firearm charges while another victim has attempted murder and possession of dangerous drugs charges.

Lightbourne says he now feels uncomfortable in his community he’s calling on police to be more proactive in fighting crime.

Back at the scene on Tuesday, we spoke with the Head of the Marathon Urban Renewal Center Asst. Superintendent Shenique Ford.

She says with the help of community outreach programs they are taking a holistic approach in trying to curve crime in the community.
