NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The arrest and subsequent court hearings of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried has drawn the interest of the international press.

Nearly a dozen media teams have descended on New Providence to cover the international case.

Maria Alejandra Cardona is a video journalist with Reuters who is stationed in Miami, Florida.

Patrick Oppmann is CNN’s Havana-based correspondent.

He says by now he thought proceedings would’ve already been wrapped up.

Oppman says there’s an intense amount of interest in the United States for this story, adding that working from here requires a shift in thinking.

Sam Bankman-Fried was arrested last week and appeared before the Magistrate’s Court where he was denied bail and remanded to The Bahamas Department of Corrections.

From then, international media were all here getting the stories.
