UNITED STATES – Pepsico says it is racing to drop artificial dyes from snacks and drinks like Cheetos, Gatorade and Mountain Dew, as U.S. shoppers demand natural ingredients.

The company says about 40% of its products still use synthetic colors and switching over could take years.

Executives say it’s not just about finding natural options but making sure the flavor, texture and look stay the same.

The first naturally colored Tostitos and Lay’s are expected on shelves later this year.
