GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Earlier this week the Torii Gate, a distinguishable fixture in the International Bazaar was removed. 

For years now many Grand Bahamians have called for the Japanese affiliated structure to be demolished. 

Our News with several residents in Grand Bahama who gave their take on the Torii Gates’ recent removal.

That was the overall consensus by residents in Grand Bahama on the recent removal of the Torii Gate in the International Bazaar. 

Some say they believe the structure that can be found at most Japanese shrines has contributed to grand bahama’s economic downfall over the years

But President of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce James Carey is of a different view. he says Freeport has long been identified with the Torii Gate.
