GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – It was a mixed bag of hopes and wants as it relates to the needs and concerns of residents on Grand Bahama.

For some, education topped the list, for others, healthcare or meaningful development and of course, the overarching sentiment is to see both the Grand Lucayan Resort and the international airport redeveloped and catapulting major economic activity.

For veteran educator and principal, Cheryl Wood, the focus is on the island’s young people and ensuring they have the opportunities and tools to succeed.

And as the plight of healthcare workers continues to make the headlines nationwide, Grand Bahamians are also looking for improvements in that sector, locally.

For small business owner, Cecil Moore, he’s calling for reform within the judicial system, especially as he continues to follow a case that’s been dragging on for 16 years.

But, the overall desire was simple – no more talk, the island is ready for action.
