Minister of Economic Affairs Michael Halkitis expressing optimism over the country’s finances, saying the Davis administration is confident in its plans to restore the ailing economy in the middle of an ongoing pandemic.

Minister Halkitis made the comments during a one-on-one interview with Our News team.

When asked his views on the country’s current financial state, Halkitis said, “We are not satisfied, but we are optimistic.”

The economic affairs minister says those plans center on restoring the country’s fiscal health following four years of the Minnis administration.

Halkitis says they are laser-focused on moving beyond recovery into robust economic growth. He says it all boils down to proper fiscal management.

While the Davis administration has put in motion fiscal plans, Halkitis insists recovering from a public health crisis and economic crisis that saw record levels of unemployment as well as significant shrinkage of GDP and government revenue will not happen overnight.
