UNITED STATES- More than 185 million Americans, from South Dakota to Florida and up to Boston are under heat alerts to start the work week.

The southeast is feeling it worst, with heat indices from 105 to 120 degrees in spots like Mississippi and Louisiana. Even at night, it may not dip below the 70s.

And it’s not just the South – New York, Philly, and Boston are bracing for multiple days of 90 to 100-degree heat.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says nearly 2,000 Americans die each year from extreme heat.
