Eleuthera, Bahamas – Touting a “robust” outlook for the real estate industry of Eleuthera and Harbour Island, HG Christie President and Managing Broker John Christie told attendees of the Eleuthera and Harbour Island Business Outlook that the future of real estate on the island “has never been better.”

Christie was one of several knowledgeable presenters and panelists at the conference, under the theme ‘Future Eleuthera: Branding the National Identity, Planning for Success’ at Eleuthera Business Hub in Rock Sound on Thursday, April 18.

Speaking on the topic of ‘Current Developments & Emerging Trends Impacting the Growth and Sustainability of the Real Estate Industry’, Christie explained that the conversation is timely and important as sales have been very strong on Eleuthera ad Harbour Island over the past few years.

“The future on Eleuthera has never looked better,” Christie said describing Eleuthera’s real estate outlook. “There are more buyers than sellers currently which bodes well for people looking to build homes to rent and sell. There are more potential developments coming on line as well.

It is important to discuss topics like this so that the public can learn what is going on in the market on Eleuthera.  The Real Estate market in Eleuthera has never been as vibrant as it has been for 60 years and is showing signs of continued growth as the island is fully re-discovered.”

When it comes to industry growth on the island over the past few years, Christie described it as “incredible”, with “lots of homes and acreage sales at record prices.”

Christie explained that more buyers continue to show interest in purchasing short-term rentals properties.

“More people are buying for Air BnB rentals,” he said. “They are feeling confident in investing because the market is so strong, they feel confident they will be able to sell when they are ready. Now, you also have more developers looking into the island due to the strength of the market.”

He added, “More real estate, especially with developments, means more infrastructure on the island, both from the developer but also from the government.”

According to Christie, the real estate market of Eleuthera also continues to see a major bolster from foreign investment.

“Foreign investment is driving the market,” Christie explained. “This is generally the same all over The Bahamas. The impact is felt as there are more people on the island providing work for builders, restaurateurs, boat captains, property managers, etc. With a strong international market, local entrepreneurs also feel confident in investing.

“But there are endless investment opportunities for Bahamians, as well as non-Bahamians – from smaller lots to buy and build on to development tracts, to turn key homes with built in rental potential. We see the future of real estate on Eleuthera and Harbour Island as strong and at HG Christie we are looking to be a strong part of that growth.”

Eleuthera Business Outlook, hosted by The Counselors, brought together the island’s business leaders from various industries for a day of discussion and forward thinking, with the purpose of growing the island’s economy.

Public sector leaders also served as presenters, in an effort to bridge the gap, enabling open dialogue throughout the entire business community of the island.
