Luckner Timothee – Gardener
“Inside here its all all sweet peppers, tomatoes, goat peppers, swish shards, onions peppers, finger peppers, goat betters, leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce.”

They say food security starts at home, and Grand Bahama resident Luckner Timothee is proof.

Tucked away in the Pinder’s Point community on Grand Bahama, he’s transformed his backyard into a thriving garden, he even makes his own soil.

A labor of love that he shares with thousands online, this as his TikTok page is filled with DIY gardening tips, some videos racking up over 90,000 views.
He also has a number of clients on the island.

“So we have the tomatoes and the beef tomatoes and inside here I have umm some clients want beets so I start growing some beets inside here, these peppers are basically just sitting here to get inside the system, and I always tell people don’t disregard pallet gardening cause this is all a pallet..and this is 22 celery all growing inside one pallet.”

From those living in an apartment to backyard beginners, Timothee says anyone can start small. In addition to pallets, he uses sandbags in his garden.

He also turns his veggies into fresh, natural juices for himself and his clients.

“So thats one my popular things that I like to do, I grow these celery, I have some more right now, im gonna make another pallet bed with celery just juicing them.”

And there’s more, bees buzzing through his backyard have sparked another interest: beekeeping.

But at the heart of it all, Timothee says it’s about inspiring more Bahamians to take control of what ends up on their plates.

“If 100 of us could have gardens like this, you know how much that would change us having to buy these stuff and they’re so expensive, 100 Bahamians on this island just with a garden with this size, it would be crazy and you can start, start your lil farm in your backyard ten to twenty bee keepers supplying homey on the island..cause one person can’t do it, .it has to be a collective group of people to make it happen.”
