NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Over 200 applicants took advantage of the Department of Labour’s final Labour on The Blocks 2.0 job fair on Saturday – a joint effort with staff of the Pinewood Community Centre and over 20 companies.

Royal Caribbean Group recruiter Tia Ferguson says her team interviewed over 50 applicants and hired many on the spot. She says the process was seamless for employers and applicants.

Ebony Russell, who interviewed for a position at Coco Cay and other companies, says while her background is in hospitality, she is open to the possibilities presented at the job fair.

Kiara Kikivarakis – public employment services officer, says although this is the Department of Labour’s last job fair of the year there will be more soon.

She says this initiative is one of the department’s key components and helps fulfill the mandate of connecting residents with employment opportunities.

There will be a few more smiles as Christmas approaches and these new hires can afford to enjoy the holidays.
