Jahni McPhee Signs Minor League Deal with Chicago Cubs

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – International Elite Sports Academy prospect Jahni McPhee adds his name to the growing list of young Bahamian players in the minor leagues.

McPhee, an 18-year-old outfielder will become the second Bahamian in the Cubs farm system – alongside BJ Murray.

A Grand Bahama native,  McPhee said he was drawn to the game at an early age and persevered on his path toward pro baseball.

McPhee plans to join the cubs farm system in the Dominican Republic this month.

NCAA Basketball

Baylor desperately needed to get back on track in the big 12 while Utah State played their first game of the season as a ranked team.

In the Big 12, VJ Edgecombe finished with a team high 18 points for the Bears in their 68-48 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats at Foster Pavilion in Waco.

Edgecombe scored 11 straight points on a run to help the Bears improve to 10-4, 2-1 in the big 12. 

He shot 7-13 from the field and also added 4 four rebounds in 30 minutes.

Baylor’s home winning streak now stands at 10 games and they will hit the road this Saturday against Arizona State.

Deyton Albury and the number 25 Utah State Aggies won their first road game of 2025, in an 85-78 win over San Jose State.

They improved to 15-1, and 5-0 in the Mountain West Conference.

Albury scored 13 points, shot 6-13 from the field in 25 minutes, and was one of five Aggies in double figures.

Utah State will return home for a matchup with Boise State on Saturday.

NBA G-Leagu

Kai Jones and Isiah Mobley both had productive nights for their franchises in the G-League.

Jones’ 2-way contract has him back and forth between the NBA and G-League, and continues to put up leading numbers whenever he joins the San Diego Clippers.

Jones finished with 14 points and a team high nine rebounds in the Clippers’ 91-85 loss to the Salt Lake Stars Tuesday night at Frontwave Arena.

He also added two blocks, two steals and shot  5-11 from the field.

Isiah Mobley and his Delaware Blue Coats continue their hot start to the 2025 season with a 103-99 win over the south bay lakers at the UCLA Health Training Center.

He finished with a game-high 28 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.
