JAMAICA – At least 32 people are dead in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa slammed the island last week as a category 5 storm. The government reporting devastating damage and warning that the death toll could rise in the coming days.

Information Minister Dana Morris Dixon saying authorities are still verifying several additional cases, while damage to schools across the country has been described as significant.

Morris adding that the storm’s impact was widespread, affecting communities right across Jamaica.
