NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A judge’s decision to deny an accused gang member bail for his safety has been affirmed by the Court of Appeal.

Denero Whyms is accused of the September 10, 2023 murder of Katraz Coakley in Yellow Elder Gardens.

Prosecutors say Whyms and Coakley were shooting at someone else when Whyms accidentally shot Coakley in the head.

Police allege that Whyms is a soldier and shooter for a gang.

The appellate court said there were no conditions that could be imposed te ensure Whyms’ safety and that of members of the public.
