NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas is looking at what could turn out to be a record breaking weekend for air travel during the Easter holidays at Lynden Pindling International Airport.

The numbers came from Lynden Pindling International Airport press release saying they expect passenger numbers to match or even exceed the record breaking pre-pandemic levels this weekend.

Welcome by Gloria has been open at Junkanoo Beach since 2001, and hostess Ruth Mae-Rolle says they’re ready for the crowds.

Carol Johnson has worked at Junkanoo Beach for over 20 years, and agrees that things are looking up.

According to the N.A.D press release, the upper estimation of 80,000 air travelers would put The Bahamas almost 20,000 passengers higher than this time last year.

In 2019, The Bahamas’ last Easter break before the pandemic, around 75,000 passengers went through LPIA, and was our strongest year on record.

Tiki Hut Bar owner Byron Austin says they’ve seen the influx of passengers over spring break, and looks forward to the busy holiday weekend.
