Jury Discharged in Long Island MP Corruption Trial

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson has discharged the jury hearing the Adrian Gibson corruption trial.

The panel was selected on May 19; however, to date no evidence has been heard in the case.
The reason for the discharge was twofold.

The judge said she didn’t want the jurors to hold any of the defendants responsible for the delay.

Additionally, Justice Grant-Thompson discharged two jurors earlier in the day. She said while the trial could have proceeded with eight jurors, it could not go on with seven. A new jury is expected to be sworn in on July 24.

Gibson is accused of getting $1.1 million in kickbacks from contracts awarded by the Water and Sewerage Corporation while he served as its executive chairman from 2018 through 2021.

He is charged along with his campaign general, Joan Knowles, Elwood Donaldson, the corporation’s former General manager, Jerome Missick, Peaches Farquharson and his cousin, Rashae Gibson.
