NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas’ Women’s 4×400 meter team withdraws from the race at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, due to medical reasons, according to Assistant Head Coach Shawn Miller.

In a video statement issued by Bahamas Athletics, Miller explains shortly after the mixed relay, some of the female members of the team began to get ill with flu-like symptoms.

“We had, what I would say, was an outbreak,” Miller explains.

Although the athletes were willing to compete, a doctor declared them too sick to race.

Miller thanked the athletes for such a grand effort.
