NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Kingsley Smith, chief passport officer is the the Progressive Liberal Party’s representative in the upcoming West Grand Bahama and Bimini election.

Smith was chosen by the party from a field of 10 applicants. The decision took just under two hours.

Prime Minister and PLP leader Philip Davis says they simply allowed due process.

As news broke of Smith’s victory, scores of supporters for former Cabinet Minister Shane Gibson openly displayed their frustration and displeasure.

Reporters then pressed a defeated Gibson for a response.

But nothing.

About half an hour after the announcement Smith emerged from inside headquarters.

He responded to questions about the backlash like this.
