FRANCE – The head of the Louvre Museum has been summoned before French lawmakers after a brazen daytime heist that left Paris stunned.

Thieves struck Sunday, breaking into two display cases and stealing nine pieces of priceless jewelry, including a royal diamond and pearl tiara.

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati says the job was highly organized, possibly an inside job, and is calling for a police station inside the museum.

The Louvre remained closed Tuesday as a nationwide manhunt continues, with President Emmanuel Macron vowing those responsible will be caught.
