Man Pleads not Guilty to Murder and Rape of 12-Year-Old Adriel Moxey

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man has denied murdering and raping a girl as she walked home from school along an unlit path.

Adriel Moxey, 12, was found dead, after being strangled and raped,  in bushes two days after she failed to return home  on November 18, 2024.

Her accused killer 39-year-old Chris Ferguson pleaded not guilty to charges of forcible taking murder, unlawful sexual intercourse and murder when he appeared before Chief Justice Sir Ian Winder on Friday.

Ferguson, who remains on remand at the prison,  did not have a lawyer at his arraignment and has requested a court-appointed lawyer to represent him at his trial.

Justice Winder has assigned the matter to Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns.

Ferguson will receive a trial date when he appears in her court on September 17.
