Man Sentenced for Killing Mother Loses Bid for a Trial After Taking Plea Deal

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man serving a 20-year sentence for killing his mother has lost a bid for a trial after he claimed he didn’t understand the plea agreement process.

Eudelle Bevans was found stuffed in the trunk of a silver Chevrolet Malibu at a junk yard in Freeport on July 17, 2019.

Police later chagged her son, Tineko Wayne Duncombe, with her murder.

In 2023, Duncombe pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with credit for the four years spent on remand after he took a plea deal.

Duncombe told the Court of Appeal that he didn’t understand the plea process and he wanted a trial.

However, the three-judge panel headed by Justice of Appeal Milton Evans dismissed Duncombe’s application after finding the judge had explained the agreement to him before he signed it.
