NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man was unanimously cleared of a rape charge following a trial before Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns and a nine-member jury.

Prosecutors alleged that Juan Mendoza forced himself on a 58-year-old on September 26, 2020.

The alleged sexual assault took place in Mendoza’s car.

Mendoza, 38, didn’t deny having sex with the woman, but said that it was consensual.

He claimed the woman had falsely accused him of rape because she wanted a serious relationship.
