McKinney Completes Fundraising Journey

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It was less than stellar conditions on the seas Monday, but that didn’t deter Gavin Mckinney from completing his fundraising effort.

Mckinney made the solo journey from Exuma to New Providence in a laser class sailboat, and landed ashore at Montague Beach around 4pm Monday.

He aimed to raise $70,000 to celebrate his 70th birthday, but his ultimate goal the event to expand shortly.

NCAA Basketball

NCAA Basketball postseason play is underway and a pair of Bahamian players faced off Monday night tournament.

In the ASUN Conference tournament Deyton Albury and his queen’s royals defeated Franco Miller Jr and his Florida Gulf coast Eagles, 69-63 to advance to the quarterfinal.

Albury finshed with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

In his final collegiate season, miller averaged 6.5 points, and appeared in all 32 games for the Eagles.

Monday was also a great day off the court for Albury when he was named ASUN Newcomer of the Year and a conference third-team selection.

In 30 games, Albury averaged 17.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game

The two-time newcomer of the week posted three double-doubles on the year as he ranked top 10 in the league in scoring, assists, and steals.

Track and Field

After just missing out on the medal podium in the heptathlon at the World Indoor Championships, Ken Mullings reflected on the experience.

B.A.I.S.S. Track and Field

The most popular track and field meet in the country is back. 

The BAISS track and field meet begins Wednesday and of course, will be headlined by another edition of the rivalry between the St. Augustine’s College Big Red Machine and the Queen’s College Comets.
