NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Domestic disputes and gang-related incidents remain among the largest class of homicides in the country, according to National Security Wayne Munroe.

“There’s no need to get in a fight, there’s no need to escalate a fight to violence and there’s no need to escalate a fight to deadly violence,” Munroe said.

“Until we get that in our minds, it will continue to happen. It’s not enough to simply say that crime is upticking (sic) all over the world at the end of the pandemic, as we see in our neighbors to the south, the Turks and Caicos.”

Munroe says steps have to be taken to address “the frustration that pented (sic) up during the lockdowns and human beings have to take responsibility.”

He continued: “If you have an issue with your spouse… with your neighbor, talk to someone about it. Don’t let it get to the point with you fighting and killing one another. That’s the second largest class of homicides that we have.”
