NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A murder suspect will remain in custody after the Court of Appeal upheld a judge’s decision to deny him bail for his safety.

Alcott Fox is accused of the November 10, 2022 revenge murder of Malik Fernander in Rolleville, Exuma, who was accused of killing his brother in 2018.

Fernander was killed shortly after he relocated to Exuma from New Providence.

The prosecution submitted that Fox would meet the same fate if released on bail.

Senior Justice Bernard Turner agreed, saying that there were no conditions that the court could impose to allay concerns about Fox’s safety.

Fox appealed the decision on the basis that there was no evidence that he would be in danger if released however, the Court of Appeal disagreed and affirmed the judge’s decision.
