NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Disaster Preparedness Month may soon be coming to an end on the 31st of May, but that just means that hurricane season begins.

A number of stakeholders coming together Saturday afternoon at the Disaster Awareness Month Exhibition, including NEMA, The Department of Meteorology and the Disaster Risk Management Unit to share vital information with residents on how to stay prepared all year long in the event of any natural disasters.

Rosie Foulkes, representative for the Disaster Risk Management Unit says while she is new to the department, she has been quite immersed in learning about the field.

She is encouraging more young people to take an interest as well.
