NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There are no plans to remove the testing requirement for unvaccinated travelers. That’s according to Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper who is shooting down claims the new policy discriminates against the unvaccinated.

Jasmin Brown reports.

The Acting Prime Minister speaking to the issue two days after the new testing policy was implemented.

He’s making it clear that the Davis administration has no plans to remove testing for the unvaccinated.

The removal of the COVID-19 testing requirement for vaccinated individuals entering The Bahamas and the discontinuation of The Bahamas travel health visa was announced in the house of assembly last week.

A negative RT-PCR COVOD-19 test no older than 72 hours is still required for unvaccinated people traveling to The Bahamas.

Cooper says so far, the changes have been well received.

The world has been battling the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020.

For more than two years, COVID-related restrictions, including testing prior to entry, have been in place.

While many restrictions have been lifted, a national mask mandate remains in place.
