GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – There is a new leader of the Downtown Freeport Business Association, an extension of the invest Grand Bahama promotional unit that’s been serving Downtown, Freeport for over a decade.

The new President of the DFBA Anton Brooks says a new board was also elected recently and comprises of people from a cross-section of the downtown community including a number of major corporate entities.

In addition to Solomons, the Public Relations Director and Social Media Coordinator Alex Thompson says a tertiary institution is now Downtown as well.

She’s encouraging business owners to take advantage of the Grand Bahama Port Authority’s diversity waiver.

The president is asking for an extension on the special economic recovery zone, SERZ order.

That order will allow for the continuation of duty-free and value-added tax-free importation of several items including household furniture, hardware supplies, and building materials.
