NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Government has launched Operation Secure, in response to security and migration concerns in the country.

During a national address, Sunday, Prime Minister Philip Davis explained that the operation was launched following the February 10 removal of a court injunction preventing government from taking action on unregulated and illegal communities in the country.

PM Davis explained Operation Secure will lead the crackdown on shantytowns, illegal and Bahamian citizens living in those communities, as well as Crown Land holders who lease the land for those communities to thrive.

The prime minister also delivered a warning to criminals who engage in human smuggling and people that employ illegal migrants, noting they will be prosecuted.
