PMH Sees an Increase in Dialysis Patients
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Public Hospitals Authority Managing Director Aubynette Rolle says Princess Margaret Hospital has seen an increase in people requiring dialysis.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Public Hospitals Authority Managing Director Aubynette Rolle says Princess Margaret Hospital has seen an increase in people requiring dialysis, but there’s one issue – the public hospital cannot accommodate the load.
As a result, they’re looking at ways to ease the burden. Rolle says PMH sees more than 400 patients at the dialysis unit.
She said while the overall goal is to have a space to accommodate the patients, they’re also faced with a staffing challenge.
She said a recent review revealed that the public healthcare system is facing a 600-plus nursing shortage.
