NASSAU, BAHAMAS – According to Police Press Liaison Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings, there has been a dramatic rise in incidents where unsuspecting individuals have sent money to strangers to purchase cars.

But police say these scammers are operating under fake profiles. They lure victims with attractively priced vehicles, only to vanish once payment has been made.

When it comes to any in-person financial transactions, police are encouraging people to do so in the presence of police.

And for those purchasing used vehicles, police say it’s your responsibility to ensure the car has a clean title.
