Popular Disc Jokey Supa Mario Battles Renal Failure

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Mario Major also known as “Supa Mario,” is regarded one of the most prominent DJ’s in the country. However, everything has come to a standstill due to his deteriorating health. So, in aid of his medical expenses, Major is hosting an event on June 13th at the national stadium called “Stronger Than Before” featuring and local entertainers.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – First entering the local entertainment scene in 1992, Mario Major, better known as Supa Mario, who is regarded as one of the most prominent DJ’s in the country, performing on major stages at corporate events in The Bahamas, and as the owner of Supa Mario Entertainment.

However, everything has come to a standstill due to his deteriorating health.

During a telephone conversation, he recalled that in 2024 he faced urinary issues, and that after seeking medical attention, he was diagnosed with kidney failure.

“So I was near renal failure, so my kidney’s were only at a 30% functionality, and they were declining. I guess over time with the previous or prior ailment of diabetes it contributes to that.”

The news promptly altered the DJ’s schedule, as extended evenings at events transformed into early mornings at dialysis.

Travel itineraries were no longer planned for pleasure, but for medical treatment.

So, he found himself confined to hospital beds and wheelchairs, losing one of his legs along the way.

Major states that he was overwhelmed by depression.

“The world is going to spin without me. What am I going to do. How am I going to continue to take care of my family? So it [starts] to attack the mental structure of any human, especially men.”

However, he discovered that he was not alone, as his family was there to support him, making many sacrifices, including his mother-in-law, who donated one of her kidneys.

“Just imagine this for a second, my wife the strongest person in the world I know… the life line behind all of this. I take no credit or glamour from this because if it wasn’t for her, I don’t know where I would be…

While expressing his gratitude to his family, he also acknowledged the outpouring of love from the community.

“People have been calling, people have been messaging, people have been donating, people have been supporting in great numbers. And I sit here in a surreal fashion.”

In aid of his medical expenses, Major is hosting an event on June 13th at the national stadium called “Stronger Than Before” featuring and local entertainers.
