ABACO, BAHAMAS – A raging wildfire, unyielding in its intensity, has been ravaging parts of Abaco for weeks, leaving behind devastation and hopelessness in its wake. We have firsthand accounts from those grappling with the blaze.

Bishop Silbert Mills explained how far the flames have reached.

Fueled by the dry conditions, the fire has consumed everything in its path, swallowing up miles of forest.

Residents say the bushfire, first started in Spring City back in April, and has since spread to nearby communities causing schools and businesses to close.

Now luckily, no lives were lost and no homes were damaged.

Marvin Green, manager for BPL operations in Abaco, says they were forced to disconnect the power in some areas.

We also spoke to Faron Newbold, chief councilor in Central Abaco who thanked community volunteers for assisting in keeping the fire contained.
