Robin Thicke Collaborates With the Essence Band for Two Night of Soul

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – For two consecutive nights, grammy-nominated artist Robin Thicke performed on stage at Jon Batiste’s Jazz Club at Baha Mar, enthralling the audience with a selection of his popular songs, including Lost Without You and Blurred Lines.

A Rhythm and Blues session also included the Essence Band as Thicke’s official orchestra for both evenings.

This is the first time the pair has ever performed together.

Band leader Victor Johnson tells us it was a privilege to work with Thicke, and that the collaboration was also a chance to be cultural brand ambassadors.

“This is an opportunity for us to once again put The Bahamas on the map. We’re honored to carry that flag with us, every time we go every where…now we get to wave the flag with Robin Thicke on stage.”

Johnson explains that the partnership provided them with a lot of unforeseen insight.

“Go with the flow, always. That’s something I didn’t expect. He’s like whatever happens on stage [it’s] suppose to happen.”

Despite limited rehearsal time before the show, Thicke commended the band for their artistry.

“They’re amazing musicians and they’re professionals, we only got one full rehearsal and yet they knew all the parts. They knew my set, they knew how I like to do it because my band leader had reached out their band leader Victor.”
