Akron’s Sammy Hunter Goes for A Career High Against Bowling Green

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Nassau’s Sammy Hunter decided to have his own Majority Rule Day party in Kentucky on Tuesday.

The 6’9” junior forward scored a career-high as he helped his University of Akron Zips take down the Bowling Green State Falcons 74-70.

Hunter’s points came in 25 minutes off the bench as he went 7-9 from the field, which included 4 of his 6 three-point attempts.

He also put his length to work, grabbing 3 rebounds, blocking 1 shot and swiping 1 steal.

Hunter, a third-year-junior thanks to the COVID amnesty year in 2020, is seeing an expanded role with the Zips after transferring from the University of Mississippi at the end of last season.

Akron is in a prime spot to win its conference – the Mid-American – and punch a ticket to the NCAA tournament as they are third in third in their league with a 10-6 overall record and a 2-1 record in conference.

If Sammy Hunter keeps having games like these, we’ll definitely see them playing well into March.
