NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Officials at the temporary shelter at the Poinciana Inn that’s operated by the Department of Social Services seeking to clarify how the facility is operated.

Last week, a group of concerned Bahamians protested outside the inn after four women claimed they were evicted from the temporary shelter with nowhere to go.

Administrator Dawn Darling updates us on the status of those women.

It’s a story we’ve followed since last week. Our news speaking to two of those residents.

One said she would have to sleep in the back of her car with her six children.

Many questioned the humanity of the decision to evict the women.

Darling also walking me through the shelter’s store, here residents are free to get clothes, food and shoes, at no cost.

She says in addition to this , they try their best to prepare their residents for life post shelter.
