NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Popular preacher Bishop Lawrence Rolle recalled the moment he fell victim to a cyber crime on Saturday.

“He asked me if I have a what’s up? I say, yes. So he said he’s going to send a number on the whatsapp. As I was driving, I could only peep,” Bishop Rolle said.

“So Sammy, the keyboard player, he was telling him whatever to do, just punching these numbers. And so as he punched in these numbers, less than a minute time, probably my whatsapp was gone.”

Since then he says his life has been turned upside down.

The incident sparking concern among both his congregation and the wider public.

Bishop Rolle, who runs a Popular feeding program at his church on Second Street in the Grove, says the hacker has been sending scores of messages to people on his contact list asking them for money.

Rolle says what makes matters worse is thaT the hacker is contacting donors…

Now Rolle, who is also a police reservist says he’s reported to matter to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

Although his phone was compromised, he’s hoping it does not impact people’s willingness to donate to his ministry.
