GB Business Community Sounds Off on Grand Lucayan Sale

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Grand Lucayan Resort has been a centerpiece of the island of Grand Bahama for decades and talks about its upcoming sale has sparked interest among the community.

Prime Minister Philip Davis announcing last week, government is in talks with a prospective buyer for the hotel and the deal is expected to be finalized soon.

Many residents are optimistic believing a new owner could breathe fresh life into the island’s economy. However, some remain skeptical, recalling past attempts by previous governments and the current government to sell the mega resort, all of which ultimately fell through.

Architect Charles Moss resides on the northern island and has high hopes for who the potential buyers may be.

For business owner of the Seafood Hub Nikita Pratt, she’s optimistic about the potential sale too as she says money will flow through the economy once the project is up and running.

Business owner Richard Harvey is also weighing in saying he’s hopeful the sale will be finalized soon.

Another Grand Bahamian businessman Pastor Glenroy Bethel says if the deal goes through, it will be good for the community as they have been waiting for years to see the hotel rebound.
