SPAIN – Southern Spain is already baking under its first extreme heat alert of the year, with temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius, or 104 Fahrenheit, in cities like Córdoba and Seville.

Tourists at an annual Flamenco Fair struggled in the heat, especially in traditional outfits, while locals say it’s just another hot start to summer.

Spain’s weather agency AEMET has issued an alert for this extraordinary heat episode, which is expected to last through at least June 1st.
